Nan's spicy mala
“Sichuan peppercorn” is the unique hot spice of Bo Suak Subdistrict in Nan Province – the province was once ruled by the Lan Na ancient kingdom. Sichuan peppercorn is also known as mala of Thailand. Sichuan peppercorn looks like black peppers. Its aroma is slight lemony overtones with a tingly nubmness on the tongue. It is widely used to compliment the flavour of local Northern Thai dishes such as Laab Kua, spicy stir-fry, fried chicken. Sichuan peppercorn can eliminate meat odor. Its benefits include relieving cold and flu symptoms and flatulence, boosting energy and immune system.
