Water chestnuts

“Water Chestnut” is the well known product of Thai Buffalo Conservation Village, Si Prachan District of Suphan Buri Province. Water chestnuts are always available along the highway between Bangkok and Suphan Buri Province. Water chestnut is “Haew” in Thai which means “Disappointment”. Nowaways, it was given the new name with positive meaning which is “Som Whang” or “the hope is being fulfilled”. However, the new name does not have an impact the original tasty flavour. Water chestnut is usually boiled and served with sugar, or added to the syrup and coconut milk dessert. Water chestnut is high in fibre and help decreasing the absorption of fat and cholesterol. It can help maintaining blood sugar level and lower risk of cancer, as well as improving digestive system and relieving constipation.
